Scholarships

New RMC Residents (Australian Students)

Each year we award scholarships to new residents. New Australian residents are eligible for RMC New Resident Scholarships, valued between $1000-$8000 per annum (amounts may vary). Some may be eligible for CEF scholarships valued at up to $8000 per annum.

RMC New Resident Scholarships

The successful applicant for these scholarships will be able to demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Capacity to overcome adversity (for example, financial disadvantage, sole parent or carer responsibility, non-English speaking or Indigenous background, effects of trauma and/or abuse, long term medical condition or disability or coming from a rural or remote area)
  • How does your world view/faith/spiritual values affect your studies and way of living?
  • Prior service/contribution to the wider community (including the areas of sports, the arts, leadership, and community service)
  • Commitment to contribute to the life of the College or the wider community in the future
  • Academic performance
  • Outstanding character, maturity, common sense, eagerness and passion

   

RMC - Country Education Foundation Scholarship

To apply for the RMC - CEF Scholarship, please fill in the  Scholarships application form found here. Students must also apply for a  CEF grant through their local area.

The Country Education Foundation of Australia is a program designed to provide additional support to eligible students. RMC - CEF Scholarships comprise five part-scholarships at RMC.

The scholarship offers a one-third reduction on the room and meal plan of choice, up to $8,400. Successful students will still need to fund the remaining accommodation costs.

To be eligible, students must be approved for an offer of a place or be currently living at the College AND have applied for and be eligible for a CEF Grant.

Cut-off dates for the CEF Foundations vary: please check the  CEF website.

Applications for the RMC 2024 intake can be submitted to RMC from August/September 2023 through to Friday 2 February 2024. Applications prior to 2 Feb 2024 are strongly encouraged as RMC will respond to these applications on a first-come first-serve basis.

Each year we award scholarships to returning residents. Returning residents, both Australian and International, are eligible for RMC Returning Resident Scholarships, valued at minimum $1000 per annum.

GradReady GAMSAT Principal's Scholarships

Are you an aspiring medical student dedicated to driving positive change and discovering novel solutions and considering doing a post-graduate degree in medicine? Macquarie University need a GAMSAT exam result for anyone wanting to do a post-graduate degree in medicine. We have partnered with GradReady to set up the Principals Scholarship! One student will receive access to a full fee paid GAMSAT Attendance Comprehensive Course. GradReady is proud to award one student residing at RMC a GradReady GAMSAT Attendance (Comprehensive) Course each year. The Principals Scholarship is designed for prospective post-graduate medical students and provides them with comprehensive preparation for the Graduate Medical Schools Admission Test (GAMSAT).

GradReady is an education technology company aimed at making learning more effective and engaging. GradReady has helped over 9,000 students prepare for the GAMSATA exam since 2010. MQ Advantage Scholarship

The Macquarie University Advantage Scholarship has been established by Macquarie University’s Widening Participation Unit and Robert Menzies College to provide a fully funded ABCD room for the academic period in a fully catered meal plan option.

The successful applicant for these scholarships will be able to demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated financial need
  • And/or from a regional or remote background
  • How the scholarship will assist the applicant with their studies and in their future career
  • A demonstrated commitment to achieving their academic goals
 

Applications for the 2024 Macquarie University Advantage Scholarship are now open.

  • The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students in financial need with accommodation costs support while living in RMC. It is awarded for 1 year (38 weeks of accommodation costs).
  • The successful applicant must have accepted the offer of a place (or be enrolled) on a full-time basis in an undergraduate degree at Macquarie University.
  • The Scholarship must be commenced in the year it is awarded and deferment of the Scholarship offer is not available.

Paul W. Barnett Scholarship

The Paul W. Barnett RMC Scholarship is awarded annually to an Australian student from a rural or regional area who is from a significantly disadvantaged background. The awardee will demonstrate promising academic ability and the potential to positively contribute to the RMC community. The scholarship is valued at $16000 per annum, and is renewable for up to four years, subject to ongoing eligibility. The scholarship will be paid as a rebate on accommodation fees.

All new and returning residents who apply for RMC Scholarships will be considered for the Paul W. Barnett Scholarship. There is no further application required. Please fill out the relevant scholarship application form here and select the most applicable category to your circumstances.

RMC Ministry Scholarship

The goal of this scholarship is to promote and enable RMC residents' involvement in ministry and outreach with RMC residents and the broader Macquarie University.

The scholarship recipient will be an individual with gifts and passion to serve in Christian ministry.  

The scholarship provides for up to 50% of the value of an ABCD room.

The scholarship is open to current or prospective residents of RMC.

Criteria

In awarding these scholarships attention is given to the following criteria:

  • Outstanding Christian character, spiritual and personal maturity, eagerness and passion for Christian ministry
  • Commitment to RMC as a place of witness, mission and maturity
  • Commitment to community involvement, service, and extra-curricular activities
  • Leadership qualities or leadership potential demonstrated through active involvement in Christian ministry
  • Potential to contribute to the life of RMC
  • Demonstrated financial need

Optional, but not required:

  • Experience in a cross-cultural ministry context
  • Experience in Christian training/gap year

Responsibilities:

Say and show the gospel of reconciliation with God through the death & resurrection of Jesus Christ on the campus of Macquarie University through:

  • Participation in the life of the RMC community
  • Serving the RMC community through the Chaplaincy team
  • Regular worship at The Bridge Church Macquarie Park
  • Using RMC facilities & resources as a place of hospitality focused on Christian mission and discipleship.

Opportunities:

  • Mentoring with a member of the RMC staff or Chaplaincy team
  • Receive subsidized training in relevant areas
  • Discerning your future vocation through feedback and reflection

RMC Cross-cultural Mission Support Scholarship

At RMC we understand the possible financial strains on Christians and families serving in cross-cultural mission.

The goal of this scholarship is to provide financial support for adult children of parents who are engaging in Christian cross-cultural mission.

The scholarship provides for up to 50% of the value of an ABCD room.

The scholarship is open to current or prospective residents of RMC.

  • Evidence of family's involvement in Christian cross-cultural mission.
  • Christian character, spiritual and personal maturity, eagerness and passion for Christian ministry

We award Creative Arts Scholarships (for students studying in the fields such as: performance, drama, music, film, dance, audio-visual, fine arts, visual arts etc.) New and Returning residents, both Australian and International, are eligible for Creative Arts Scholarships, valued at a minimum $1000 per annum.
